The 4th Installment....

The 2010-2011 NBA Season is already at the quarter point, its been exciting so far, and should only get better....

Whats Up?.......

Canadian media giant Rogers to buy Toronto Raptors?
According to  a report in the Toronto Star on Wedneday, Rogers has their sites on buying 66% of MLSE(Maple Leafs Sports & Entertainment) from the teachers credit union which currently owns the Leafs, Raptors, Marlies, Toronto FC, The Air Canada Centre. The reported sale is projected to be worth an estimated $1.3 billion dollars. Rogers declined to comment on the matter Wednesday afternoon. Rogers already owns the Toronto Blue Jays, and their home the Rogers Centre.

Hawks will have to soar without their leader..
Atlanta Hawks guard and star player Joe Johnson will miss the next 4-6 weeks , after going under successful surgery on his right elbow. The surgery was performed in Indiana by world renowned James Andrews who does surgerys on many star athletes. The Hawks have signed guard Damien Wilkens to take Johnsons roster spot.

Former Raptor Peterson claims Carters boos in Toronto were worse than Lebrons in Cleveland:
Morris Peterson who played with Toronto and Carter said after Thursday nights Heat/Cavs game that, the boos for Vince Carter were louder then Lebron James. The city of Cleveland was a buzz on Thursday, and the atmosphere inside Quicken Loans Arena was electric, but Miami and Lebron got the last laugh winning 118-90 with James having one of his best games of the season pouring in 38pts.

Games to watch:
Atlanta @ Miami- Dec 4th
New Orleans @ San Antonio- Dec 5th
Atlanta @ Orlando- Dec 6th
My Pick Of The Week:  Denver @ Boston

Raptors Watch:
The Raps are coming off a good week with back to back wins over Washington and Oklahoma City. They are now 8-11, and have 3 winnable games coming up. Andrea Bargnani has been playing well, the role  players have been improving, Leandro Barbosa. Jerryd Bayless, and Sunny Weema have been really productive. This team is getting on a roll. The road ahead includes.....
New York @ Toronto- Dec 5th
Toronto @ Indiana- Dec 6th
Toronto @ New York- Dec 8th
Denver @ Toronto- Dec 10th
Projected four game outcome: 3-1. This team is playing great, Denver will be a tough test.

Basketblogging.... Part 3

Hey everyone, welcome to part 3 of my NBA blogosphere.... here we go!!

Whats going on basketball land?

Want to come to NBA games for less, well you will now have that chance:
Due to the threat of the pending lockout next summer, which seems more and more likely to happen, with the the mess the NBA has made with the salary cap, ticket prices are SLOWLY! dropping. The average price of a non premium seat is down 2.5 percent, to an average of $48 per ticket. Last season they went down 2.8 percent.

Carter...hurt again, or so he says?
Former Raptors crybaby and now Magic guard Vince Carter has a bumed left knee. Carter hurt his knee during the fourth quarter against the Spurs Monday night. He made a spin move to attempt a layup, and landed hard on his left foot, Carter said he felt a sharp pain under his knee cap. The Magic took him out of the game for precautionary reasons. The MRI showed no structural damage to the knee, Vince is on a day to day basis, but hey arent we all?

Cleveland preparing for a hostile return of Lebron:
Mark December 2nd on your calender NBA fans, Lebron James is set to make his return to his home city, where he was born, and played for his home town Cavaliers for seven seasons. The Cavs have banned fans from wearing anti-Lebron apparel to the game, and are bringing in extra security and police for the game. The organization is concerned about the safety of the city and its reputation for that night, as the game between the Heat and Cavaliers is being nationally broadcasted on ESPN.  I am not a fan of Lebron James but I look forward to watching this game ,  he is going to get it from the fans, a million times worse then Vince Carter did in his first return to Toronto after he got traded to New Jersey.

Games to check out this week:
Dallas @ San Antonio (Batlle of the Lonestar State) Nov 26th
Chicago @ Denver- Nov 26th
L.A. Lakers @ Utah- Nov 26th
Miami  @ Dallas- Nov 27th
Orlando @ Chicago- Dec 1st

My Pick Of The Week:
Portland @ Boston- Dec 1st. Two great up and down teams that always run the floor and never use the full 24 second shot clock, Brandon Roy  VS Paul Pierce, great star match up.

Raptors Watch
In the last week the tides have changed in Raptor Land. To start Bryan Colangelo pulled off a big trade shiping Jarrett Jack, David Anderson, and Marcus Banks to New Orleans for Peja Stojakovic and Jerryd Bayless. A good trade for the Raps it clears up the point guard problem, as Jose Calderon is now the guy, as well as Peja brings some much needd veteran leadership to team, and his $14mill a year salary comes of the books at the end of the season, giving Toronto some cap flexibility. The Raps have turnd their slow start around, and have no won 4 straight games, and have improved their record to 6-9. Up this week for our Toronto Raptors:
@ Boston Nov 26th
VS Atlanta Nov 28th
VS Washington Dec 1st
VS Oklahoma City Dec 3rd
Projected 4 game outcome: 2-2. The Boston and Oklahoma City games are going to be tough, two of the top tier teams in the NBA.

NBA Recap Week #2

Hey fans, hope all is well, we are 2 weeks into the new season, and have seen lots of good games, and great plays so far, as well as some suprises with some teams:

Whats going on?
Yao sidelined yet again.... Houston Rockets star centre Yao Ming will be out at least a week with after suffering a mild left ankle sprain on  Wednesday against the Wizards. Yao will leave the team on their current road trip and return to Houston for rehabilitation.

Lakers guard Odom to get foot checked out:
Los Angeles Lakers guard Lamar Odom is going to get an MRI on his soar right foot that keeps nagging him. Odom claimis he wakes up in the morning and that is foot is just aching in pain, he said theirs a good chance its from wear and tear from playing alot of basketball.

Knicks after Captain Canada?
Reports are the New York Knicks are going to contact the Phoenix Suns about the services of the 2 time MVP Steve Nash. Although it is speculated that if the Suns were going to trade the Canadian that it wouldnt be until the trade deadline in February if Phoenix has fallen out of playoff contention by then.

Games of the week:
New Orleans @ Dallas- Nov 15th
Phoenix @ Miami- Nov 17th
Dallas @ New Orleans- Nov 17th
Chicago @ San Antonio- Nov 17th

My pic of the week:  San Antonio @ Utah- Nov 19th. Both these teams play a fast paced up and down style of basketball, but due to the high altitude in Salt Lake I`m going with the Jazz. Their used to it, this why every year they have one of the best home records in the NBA.

Raptors Watch
Its been a tough stretch for the Raps. As of today their record stands at 2-8, but are showig signs of progress, they have bee comptitive in every game so far this season, with their biggest margin of defeat being 9 from the defending champs the Lakers last week in L.A. Up this week for the Raptors
Nov 16th- @ Washington
Nov 17th- @ Philadelphia
Nov 19th- VS Houston
Nov 21st- VS Boston
Projected 4 game outcome: 3-1

NBA Opening Week, Wrapup

Hey basketball fans. The first week of the new 2010-2011 season is in the books. It`s nice to have ball back again, it was an exciting first week, with lots of storylines, lets dive into it.

NBA News:
Madison Square Garden is set to re-open this Friday when the Knicks take on the Wizards. The Knicks-Magic game was cancelled on Tuesday night due to the threat of asbestos in the rafters of the 42 year old sports facility. Officials have taken care of the problem and MSG is good to go. The Knicks-Magic game will be rescheduled sometime in the near future.

T-Wolves suffer all time Franchise Low:
No one likes losing in pro sports, especially not by 41 pts, but thats what happened to the Minnesota Timberwolves as they were crushed by the Orlando Magic 146-105 Wednesday night. This is the 3rd worse loss by points in league history. " We were clearly overmatched, " coach Kurt Rambis said. " They`ve got better players and a better team.

Lakers star centre Bynum progressing well:
Los Angeles Lakers centre Andrew Bynum is rehabbing his injured knee on fast pace. He is know running on a track and not just a treadmill, but it still at least 3 weeks away from returning to game action according to coach Phil Jackson.

Raptors Watch:
The 2010-2011 Toronto Raptors are 4 games into the freash seasom,  and already have a losing record of 1-3. Their have been some postives though Andrea Bargnani is averaging 24pts a game over the first 4, he needs to contain this for the whol year, also Reggie Evans has been a beast on the boards averaging 13rpg over the first week. DEFENCE DEFENCE DEFENCE!! Thats been one of the biggest problems with these team the last couple years, and in the first few games, where they yet to hold an oppenent under 100 pts. Up this week for the Raps:
@ LA Lakers Nov 5th
@Portland Nov 6th
VS Golden State Nov 8th
VS Charlotte Nov 10th
Projected 4 game outcome: 2-2

Key Games of the week:
Phoenix @ Atlanta Nov 7th
Portland @ LA Lakers Nov 7th
Atlanta @ Orlando Nov 8th
Utah @ Miami Nov 9th
My pick of the week: Boston @ Miami Nov 11th. A rematch of the opening night game, but this time I see Miami taking this one at home by a score of 107-103.

Last Weeks Trivia: Who was drafted 2nd overall in the 2003 NBA Draft?
Answer: Darko Milicic by the the Detroit Pistons

This Weeks Trivia: What number was Lebron James recently trying to get retired across the entire league?
I`ll have the answer for you next week, Hint: He was one of the greatest players of all time.

Alright fellow ballers, I`m out, enjoy the games I will check back in next week.

NBA Season is finally upon us!!!!

Hey all you hoop crazed funs, this blog is for you, all about the NBA, daily news of whats happening around the league, key games of the week and well some daily NBA trivia. Alright lets jump right into it!

Opening week starts the night of October 26th, with
Miami @ Boston
Phoenix @ Portland
Houston @ LA Lakers

This will be season debut of highly anticipated new look Miami Heat, after big off-season overhaul signing 3 of the best players in the league Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, and former Raptor Chris Bosh.

The Toronto Raptors will begin life without Chris Bosh, Wednesday October 27th vs the New York Knicks at home at the ACC. Being a Raptors fan, even I will be honest this is not going to be a pretty season, how do you replace 24ppg, and 12rpg, its simple you really cant. However Bryan Colangelo did make some moves this offseason, signing free agent Linus Kleiza, and trading underachieving Hedo Turkoglu to Phoenox for Leandra Barbosa. Overall expectations for this team are low, I think they will finish with somewhere between 25-30 wins.

 Preseason predictions:
Western Conference champions: Los Angeles Lakers
Eastern Conference champions: Miami Heat

Finals: Heat VS Lakers- Lakers in 7 games.  Even though the Heat got the big 3 the Lakers are still the team to beat they are back to back champions, have lots of depth, have the best player in the world in Kobe Bryant, and the winniest coach of all time Phil Jackson.

Triva of the week:  Who was the second overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft?

I will talk to you all you ballers, in a week, enjoy the start of the season!!
